Plant seeds of resistance in Palestine today, Kathryn
Dear Kathryn, You probably saw the news on Friday of a massive armed Israeli settler attack in the West Bank, with over 80 settlers using clubs and machine guns to attack Palestinians who were picking olives, and setting fire to olive trees. The videos of this violence reached international audiences with the news that an American photojournalist for the Washington Post was brutally beaten during the attack. Settler violence continues to intensify despite international criticism, and Palestinian farmers live with the enduring fear and reality of Israel’s illegal military occupation.12 As we continue our campaign to plant 5,000 new olive saplings, your partnership is vital at a crucial time for Palestinian farmers. To learn more about the impact of your support on Palestinian farmers and their families, please read Ahmad’s story. |

Olive Farming: Ahmad’s Story of Palestinian Identity |

Born in the village of Masliya, Ahmad Abdul Karim Al-Alaouni worked abroad for years until he returned home to Palestine following his father’s passing. In a recent conversation with our partner, the Palestine Fair Trade Association (PFTA), Ahmad shared that returning to Palestine marked a turning point in his life, as he took over managing his family’s olive groves and preserving their agricultural heritage. When he joined the Palestine Fair Trade Association in 2016, Ahmad became part of an incredible network that supports small-scale farmers in connecting their products to fair trade markets. He now owns 70 dunums of olive groves and produces over 3,500 kg of olive oil annually, which he markets and sells through the PFTA. |

Each dollar donated through the Rooting Resistance campaign will be split between our partners at the Palestine Fair Trade Association and our movement building efforts in the U.S. In over 15 years of partnership, donors like you have planted over 41,600 olive trees across Palestine, and have fueled incredible momentum to stop arming Israel.
Here’s how your donation to Rooting Resistance matters in 2026:
- Your support bolsters resilience and livelihood. By planting saplings through our longtime partner, the Palestine Fair Trade Association (PFTA), we support farming families like Ahmad’s, whose lives depend on olive production.
- Your support signals rootedness. In a moment of mass displacement and terror, growing trees is a refusal to be uprooted. Each new olive tree is a living act of return and resistance.
- You help strengthen movement infrastructure here in the U.S. Your gift not only plants a tree—it also powers USCPR’s organizing, awareness raising, and movement building to fight for Palestinian liberation.
- You help reach our goal of planting 5,000 new olive saplings this year.
Kathryn, you can help Palestinian farming families stay rooted to the land—and support the work of the US Campaign for Palestinian Rights—through our annual Rooting Resistance drive to plant olive trees in Palestine. We have until October 31 to meet this moment and ensure the PFTA can help every farmer with our support. In the face of ongoing Israeli settler attacks in the West Bank, including on farmers, your support this year is more important than ever. Will you join me today in planting seeds of hope and resistance? |
