The Senate may vote on the Deadly Merger as soon as next week

Hi Kathryn, The upcoming weeks will be some of the most decisive in the fight to stop the Deadly Merger.  On Monday, the Senate returns to DC after a month in their districts. With recess over, a vote on the enormous Pentagon spending bill (the NDAA)—and the Deadly Merger provision (House Sec. 219/Senate Sec. 1217)—could happen as soon as next week. New polling shows that 61% of voters oppose a version of the NDAA that would deepen the integration of Israeli weapons companies into the Pentagon at a level higher than any other country.  Momentum is on our side, and we can’t back down now.  That’s why we’ve been holding weekly phonebanks with our partners at Democratic Socialists for America (DSA) and U.S. Campaign for Palestinian Rights (USCPR) Action, and are keeping them up throughout the month of September.  Join us tonight at 7 pm ET/4 pm PT for our next phonebank as we prepare for the Senate's return to DC. Sign up to phonebank This evening, I’ll be joining the phonebank to discuss the importance of this ongoing push within the bigger fight to challenge the growing power of Big Tech and its toxic alliance with Israel.  Together, we’ll be contacting registered DSA members or pro-Palestine supporters who have already taken action with AJP or USCPR Action. Then, next Monday, Sep. 14,  we'll be phonebanking all day from 9 am-5 pm ET to drive call key Senators on their first day back in office. This time, we will be asking people to make calls during business hours to make sure that their staffers hear directly from their constituents in real time—not on a voicemail. Even if you can only join us for 30 minutes, your support can make a big difference.  Take action with us this month by signing up for one of our weekly phonebanks or our special Day of Action phonebank on Monday 9/14. As support for the traditional model of U.S. military funding to Israel plummets, Israel is now positioning itself as a global leader in AI and tech for war. It’s betting the future of its economy on AI and tech. But it can’t succeed without the U.S. and Big Tech backing. Blocking the Deadly Merger provision in the NDAA is one of the most immediate and impactful actions we can take right now to challenge this larger plan. That’s where phonebanking comes in. While making calls to our own Representatives and Senators is critical (and we need to keep doing it), through phonebanking we can apply strategic pressure on key lawmakers who have the most say in what is included in the final version of the NDAA. Last week, we made almost 8,000 calls to supporters in key districts and asked them to contact their representatives and demand they reject the Deadly Merger. With each phonebank, we’re able to drive hundreds of calls to lawmakers. Sign up for a phonebank in September Although a version of the NDAA with the provision passed in the House in July, both the House and Senate must still pass a final, reconciled version of the bill before it becomes law. That process could start as soon as next week.  We can stop the Deadly Merger.
