My Palestinian grandfather, who lived through the Nakba, was torn from my life when I was a child because the Israeli military’s curfew blocked him from accessing a hospital in the West Bank
Dear Kathryn, Every year, the U.S. government writes the Israeli military a blank check for at least $3.8 billion, using your tax dollars to fund Israel’s massive violence and oppression against the Palestinian people.
In 2024, Congress voted to send even more military funding to Israel: a total of $17.9 BILLION for genocide. Every Palestinian is familiar with the deadly cost of arming Israel, because we’ve personally experienced direct harm against our families.
My Palestinian grandfather, who lived through the Nakba, was torn from my life when I was a child because the Israeli military’s curfew blocked him from accessing a hospital in the West Bank.
Palestinian families in Gaza have experienced a true nightmare—and unfathomably worse torture—every day, ceasefire or not, as Israel uses our tax dollars to continue its genocide and apartheid.
This is our tax dollars at work, funding death and destruction.
It doesn’t have to be this way. The U.S. government could be funding the life-giving resources our communities really need, like healthcare, education, housing, climate justice, and disaster recovery in the wake of climate change.
Check out our Not My Tax Dollars map to see what that money could be funding in your community.

Please share this map with three of your friends by forwarding this email. (If you’re having any trouble viewing it, clear the cache on your browser.) On the Not My Tax Dollars map, you’ll see an estimate of how much people in your city paid in 2024 for U.S. military funding to Israel through federal tax dollars. You can also download a graphic to share for your city. So often politicians claim our government doesn’t have the money for resources for our own communities, but this map tells a different story. Friend, see the impact in your city if our elected officials chose to prioritize life, instead of bombs and bullets to kill Palestinian families. Our tax dollars should never be used for human rights abuses in violation of U.S. and international law, or any type of violence. Keep fighting to resist genocide and apartheid. Keep fighting to fund care, not killing. |
