Strengthening Veterans Healthcare  in Vermont Dear Fellow Vermonter, As a senior member of the U.S. Senate Veterans Committee one of my top priorities is making sure that every veteran in Vermont can get the high-quality healthcare they have earned without having to travel long distances or face unnecessary barriers. That is why I am very pleased to announce that the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs will be building two new, state-of-the-art community-based outpatient clinics to serve Vermont veterans. The Burlington clinic — the busiest VA clinic in our state — will be replaced by a new 36,000-square-foot facility at the Technology Park in South Burlington that is twice as large as the current clinic. The new facility is expected to begin seeing patients in the spring of 2029. I am also delighted that the South Burlington clinic will provide desperately needed dental care services; a first for a VA facility in Vermont. The Brattleboro clinic will be combined with the VA clinic in Keene, New Hampshire, to provide improved services for veterans in both states. The new 27,000-square-foot clinic will be located at 99 NH-9 in West Chesterfield and is also expected to begin seeing patients in the spring of 2029. When it became clear that the VA would combine the Keene and Brattleboro clinics into one larger facility, I worked with the VA to ensure a location was selected that was convenient for veterans in both states. I am pleased they chose a site right near the bridge to Brattleboro so that Vermont veterans will not have to travel far to get the care they need. Today, the VA operates community-based outpatient clinics in Bennington, Brattleboro, Burlington, Newport and Rutland that serve nearly 19,000 Vermont veterans. These clinics provide primary care, specialty treatment and mental health services and work alongside the VA Medical Center in White River Junction. As the former Chairman of the Senate Veterans' Affairs Committee, I have long believed that our veterans deserve the very best healthcare this country can provide.
