This May Day, we fight for a free Palestine

Dear Kathryn,

Yesterday, a historic vote took place in the Senate. For the first time ever, a majority of Democratic Senators voted in favor of resolutions to block the sale of weapons and bulldozers to Israel. While the resolutions did not pass, the votes mark a pivotal shift in the political calculations of Members of Congress, and signal their responsiveness to the growing pressure of the American people to stop enabling Israel’s crimes.

This May Day, we must turn up the pressure and make it clear that we are done with our taxpayer dollars being used to fund war, state violence, and genocide.

Join me Monday, April 20th at 7pm ET/6pm CT/4pm PT for a mass call to discuss how we build our anti-war movement this May Day.

I’ll be speaking alongside Representative Rashida Tlaib, Iranian American organizer Hoda Katebi, poet Aja Monet, Aru Shiney-Ajay of Sunrise Movement, Leah Greenberg of Indivisible, Kieran Knutson of CWA 7250, Lauren Chua of UE Local 256, and National Nurses United President Jamie Brown, RN.

REGISTER FOR THE 4/20 MAY DAY MASS CALL

It’s been over a month since the United States and Israel launched a war on Iran, and despite the announcement of a ceasefire, our government continues to use our tax dollars to send weapons to Israel to continue its genocide in Palestine and escalate its attacks on Lebanon. The U.S. is also still threatening Venezuela and has tightened its embargo on Cuba.

Trump has requested a massive $1.5 trillion military budget for the 2027 fiscal year—a 42% increase from last year. Meanwhile, the administration has drastically cut funds for domestic spending that would benefit our communities. All this money for weapons and tech companies but never for healthcare, housing, and schools.

The U.S. war machine is out of control. Now is the time to get organized to stop it.

As we prepare for May Day, we want to make sure that this is our largest anti-war mobilization yet. Members of Congress, corporate actors, and billionaire profiteers who are making violence possible against our communities here and abroad must hear from us.

Hosted by our partners at Action Center on Race & the Economy/Bargaining for the Common Good, Rising Majority, and Organized Power in Numbers, the April 20th mass call will provide attendees not just with a grounding in the current moment, but concrete tools, messages, and demands.

I hope you’ll join us on Monday.
